10 Reasons I Respect Fundamentalists

20 11 2010

“Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; HONOUR TO WHOM HONOUR.” (Romans 13:7)

I run around with all kinds of Christians but the fundamentalists with whom I often associate are some of my favorites. Oh we have our disagreements but overall I find them better company than most in the contemporary movements. Here are a few of the reasons why despite our disagreements I will always love fundamentalism.

1. My Grandparents were fundamentalists.

2. They still sing hymns.

3. They tend to raise law-abiding, chaste children even though studies suggest there is no difference between Christians and non-Christians.

4. They believe in a literal hell and love enough to warn people about it.

5. They have backbone and are not prone to compromise principle.

6. They believe in truth, and hold to historic orthodoxy.

7. They know that the Bible calls for some kind of separation from the world.

8. They believe that the Bible is true, all of it.

9. They put obedience to Jesus above the approval of man (but fall short on occasion)

10. They focus heavily on worldwide missions.
