Better Late Than Never

20 10 2013

Our ministry update for the week starts with the Alice in Wonderland line, “I’m late, I’m late for a very important date. No time to say hello goodbye I’m late I’m late I’m late.” On Monday I was so far behind schedule that once I picked up my coworkers and got to the bus station to preach the buses were lined up and people were piling on. I knew I blew it and would not be able to preach that day. I learned a very important lesson though on the importance of being on time. The Lord worked heavy on my heart that people did not hear the Gospel because of my carelessness.

Took the Gospel door to door on Tuesday morning and although not many were home tracts went to every house. On Wednesday I took our youth group door knocking and although we got many tracts out we still found few home and the weather was very hot. It seems Bakersfield gets ten months of summer weather. On Friday Amy and I took our teens out bowling and had a wonderful time of fun and fellowship. I think it’s important for them to see that Christians can have a good time while maintaining their testimony. On Saturday we went door knocking again and we were able to talk to a few people about their souls. This morning I began a series with our teen class in Sunday School on why we believe the Bible. I feel that since I am only filling in until the first of the year it is important to instill in them the reasons we believe as we do to give them knowledge of their own beliefs and an answer to give to those who would cast doubt upon their beliefs as well.

We hope and pray that all who read this have found a place of service for the Lord this week as well. Pray for us as we continue to labor for the Lord here in Bakersfield and even branching out to the outlying cities around us.
