The Gospel Beacon (May-July 2017)

19 08 2017

I apologize for taking so long to update but it’s been a very busy few months. My mother and her husband have both taken ill. We found long term care for him and we moved mom into our home because she needs care around the clock. We are still working on tying up all of their loose end such as getting their apartment cleared out and catching up their bills.

In July our Pastor, Fred Fies resigned from McKee Road Baptist Church. He decided to move to Georgia to lead a church camp. I have been serving on a pulpit committee to find a new pastor but as of this time we are still seeking one. In Sunday School we are working through the 11th chapter of Hebrews.

Street Ministry:
We were able to continue our street ministry at the Downtown Bakersfield Courthouse and bus station. Unfortunately we were not able to be as active as we hoped due to moms health issues but we were able to preach a few times as well as give out about 80 tracts and 1 Bible.

We were able to spend time with the homeless in Downtown Fresno. We offered prayer, food and the Gospel. We fed 200 people and gave out that many Gospel tracts as well. It blessed our hearts as we hope it blessed theirs as well.

Prison Ministry:
My work at North Kern State Prison has been truly blessed. We have seen 2 men call on the Lord for salvation as well as 7 others who were stirred about their souls. I gave away 20 copies of John/Romans and 20 copies of the book of Romans as well.

In July I began ministry at Antelope Valley State Prison in Lancaster, California. I’ll be going in there twice a month to hold chapel services all day for the men. This will allow me to be able to teach the same men on a regular basis and see them grow in the Lord.

Other News:
In May I had a chance to visit Faith Baptist Church in Fresno. They were very gracious and allowed me to talk about our ministry. In June I was able to share about our ministry as well as preach both Sunday morning and evening services at Grace Free Will Baptist church in Selma. This church and the pastor were very influential in my life as a teenager and it was a privilege to be back there to share the pulpit.

Also in May I joined other men from my church at the Master’s Men Conference in Fresno. It was an encouraging time of singing, and preaching. It’s almost like a reunion seeing friends that you only get to see once or twice a year.

In June we attended the Spiritual Leadership Conference at Lancaster Baptist Church. We met many kind pastors there and had a booth to share about our ministry. It was here that the Lord allowed us to meet the State chaplain at the prison in Lancaster and opened the door for me to minister there.

Please consider supporting us financially as well as with your prayers with your prayers as we desire to serve the Lord full time in the Gospel ministry. There are so many people who need to hear the Gospel and so little time to labor and serve the Lord in this life.

“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” C.H. Spurgeon
