I was called back into work for another 12 hour shift after very little sleep. I was discouraged yesterday and a little this morning but found comfort from the prophet Jeremiah. After listing all the “problems” he had in Lamentations 3:1-19 he finally gives this conclusion, “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.” Lamentations 3:21-25.
Even when tired, frustrated, and down in spirit the Lord showers His mercies new every morning. New grace for each day and each trial. New strength for each task, and new songs for each downtrodden heart. If only we will wait upon Him in stillness, quietness, and trust. I have no portion in this world, no stake, no claim, no wealth. I only have the Lord as my portion and all is His and He is mine. That thought really encouraged my this morning. Now where there was complaining under my breath there is a song, “More love to Thee, O Christ, more love to TheeHear Thou the prayer I make on bended knee. This is my earnest plea: More love, O Christ, to Thee; More love to Thee, more love to Thee!”
