“Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.” 2 Samuel 5:7
The Jebusites had mocked David saying their false gods would protect them and that David could not take Jeruslaem because their gods were their protectors. We see that this was not the case. the reason was simple “For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.” Psalm 132:13 God H…imself had chosen that city and no flase idol could stop Him from what He had planned. David was ordained by God to sit on the throne from Jerusalem.
We have many false idols in our lives today some made of wood and stone, and others are just objects, entertainments, and pursuits that take our attention from the Lord. God has declared He will sit on the throne of the hearts of His people and no false god will stop him from taking His rightful place. “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.” Let us be as zealous for God’s holy name, and for God to take His rightful place as David was.
